Mixed border in private guest garden
Questions
Before you come
The things people ask us most often.
If what you want to know isn’t here, do just ask. We’d rather talk it through than have you wondering.
The retreat
No. All the meditations are guided and gentle, and are suitable for complete beginners as well as those with more experience.
Not at all. You’re welcome to sit or lie down, whichever you find most comfortable, and we have reclining chairs for anyone who finds the floor a bit too hard.
No. It’s a well-being retreat, rooted in the landscape, its history and nature, with gentle meditation to help calm the mind.
Just you, or you and whoever you bring with you. The retreat is private, so you won’t be sharing it with a group.
The walks are short and taken at an unhurried pace, and the T’ai Chi is gentle. If you have any concerns about mobility, just mention it when you get in touch and we can talk it through.
No. Everything is there for you to enjoy, but if you’d rather sit out an activity and spend the time in the garden or the summerhouse instead, that’s absolutely fine.
Each day starts at 9am with a short guided meditation, followed by a morning excursion. Late mornings and afternoons are spent on activities based on the day’s theme, and everything finishes by 5pm, leaving your evenings free.
This is Aberdeenshire, so we plan for all weathers. With good waterproofs most excursions go ahead, and if conditions are really poor we’ll adapt the day.
Yes. You can choose from our menu of treatments, which includes reiki, massage and cyrstal healing, all provided by local therapists we have chosen ourselves.
Please let us know about any health conditions, injuries or pregnancy when you get in touch, so our therapists can make sure your treatment is suitable for you.
Accommodation
The retreat is for one or two people, whether a couple, two friends or someone looking for some ‘me’ time.
You’ll stay in the beautifully appointed, self-contained first floor apartment of Dalherrick Farm house, with its own private guest garden and hot tub. You’re also welcome to explore the grounds and to use the summerhouse by the wildlife pond. The sleeping arrangements are one double bed and a double sofa bed in the sitting room, with access to the bathroom through the bedroom.
Comfortable, loose clothing for meditation and T’ai Chi, sturdy footwear and waterproofs for walks, and swimwear for the hot tub.
We recommend staying on Thursday night to allow a gentle easing back into the outside world. There may also be the option to extend your stay, so just ask when you get in touch.
Food and drink
The apartment is self-catering, so you’re free to bring your own food. You can also pre-order a selection of good quality frozen meals from us, which will be waiting in our freezer when you arrive, so you can eat whenever suits you.
Yes. The frozen meals include a good choice of vegetarian and vegan dishes, and we can send you the ingredients list for every meal so you can choose what suits you. We’ll also ask about allergies and preferences when you book so we can choose the right milks and biscuits.
Getting here
Dalherrick Farm is in the rolling countryside of rural Aberdeenshire.
No. We’re around half an hour from Aberdeen Airport and can collect you from the airport or from Stonehaven train station. If you’re driving, there’s parking at the farm.
We’ll take you to all the places we visit during the retreat, so there’s no need to drive yourself.
